Hey Look, I'm Crafty!

The week before Christmas, Levi and I moved into our own place. (Guess I forgot to mention it.) Due to all the HGTV I watch, I've spent way too much time daydreaming about home design. I pour over beautiful spaces on Pinterest and long for outrageous homes I'm never going to have. Like this. Hellooooo master bedroom!

I've decided enough is enough. I may not ever have a room this gorgeous. But gosh darn it, I'm going to try. We don't need to buy a house to dip into the vast pool of design. I will do it right now, despite our carpet, cheap brown woodwork, and neutral walls. So without further ado, I give you the inspiration that is going to take our master bedroom from drab to fab.

The "clothesline" for snapshots/notes is going to happen. If I can make that headboard work, I'll cry tears of joy.

I've got a thing for crates. They would make perfect bedside tables, don't you think?

So would these vintage suitcases. Hmm... which do you prefer?

The end of our bed needs a pretty bench. Using an old coffee table looks like an inexpensive, easy way to make one! (Have you seen how pricey benches are?? The cheapest I've found is TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS!)

And lastly, I'm SO incorporating these twine bottles into the room.

Now, I am NOT what one considers a crafty person. I've always been the type to see DIY projects and think, "I'll just buy that somewhere". But this time, I'm going to tackle this very hands on project in a very do it yourself way. Why the sudden change? Well, uh, to save a few pennies mostly. But three cheers for personal growth! :)

I love all these ideas!!! I bet you could make them all work.... I like the crate idea or the end tables, especially if you get the headboard. I bet you can do that!!! Very pretty!

I'm guessing that was Debbie commenting under Nathan's login... lol... Anyway, I think you could totally do a lot of that stuff! The twine bottles would be really easy and the clothesline for photos/notes too!

I LOVE Pinterest! I've gotten some great ideas (and great recipes) from there. In fact, just last week I had my hubby install a towel bar above my jewelry armoire. I bought shower curtain hooks for the towel bar and placed all of my long necklaces on it, to keep them from getting tangled. Thanks, Pinterest!

If you make that headboard, then I think the crate would look best as a bedside table. The wood in each would complement the other. Using a coffee table as a bench is a great idea...unless you have a 6'5", 260 lb. "baby boy," like me! LOL

Good luck with your redecorating. It's a never-ending process, isn't it? :-)

Blessings...

So beautiful!!! I like your idea inspirations and can't wait to see "AFTER" pictures! I used an old suitcase we found at a rummage for a display when I was a junior high teacher - it was an Around the World area and each month was a different kid's responsibility to fill the suitcase and teach us about a different country. It was fun to let them decorate and I liked the excuse to buy an old suitcase! Hahaha!

Wow! These are all beautiful ideas. I'm really looking forward to having a slightly bigger house someday (and especially one that we own!) to do more decorating. But maybe...once spring rolls around and I have a little more motivation...I'll start some of these easy DYI projects. :) The first thing I REALLY want to do is get myself a desk (because I need one), and if I don't like how it looks strip and re-finish it. I used to help my dad with that sort of thing all the time. :)

When you get any or all of these ideas implemented, I WANT TO SEE PICTURES!

Thanks for Sharing!! :)
