Michael and I are not your typical gung-ho Army family. There are many enlisted soldiers who eat, sleep, and breathe the military. Their wives know all the acronyms, ranks, and policies - we call them "lifers".
You may have noticed I seldom talk about our experience with the Army. While we are proud Americans, the insight we've gained has left us a bit jaded to their ways. Quite frankly, we've been screwed over one too many times. It's extremely frustrating and disheartening how little Michael's unit cares for their soldiers. (Forget about the families!) These men put in LONG hours at work busting their asses and get little to no recognition for their effort. It's all about rank and what kind of shape you are in.
For a naive & passionate 18 year old boy eager to serve his country, this was quite disappointing.
While we've struggled to remain optimistic throughout the past three years, the Army provides us a secure paycheck and great benefits. We are very thankful for that. Our marriage is stronger and wiser. We're learning to make friends out of necessity. Above all, I believe God is teaching us to roll with the punches. Man, do they keep on coming.
One year left.

I'm not from a military family, but I used to have a boyfriend in the Army. Just from that experience, I have an idea of what you're talking about. Thanks to you and your husband for hanging in there!
I'll be praying that your year passes quickly and safely for your family. I can't imagine the difficulties your family must face at times and I thank all of you for your service to us.
You guys are doing great as far as I can tell!! And you guys will make it to the end with flying colors, and you have such a good attitude about how God is teaching you so much through it!
Got your comment on my blog..you are too sweet. Thanks soo much for your encouraging words. :) I love your edits. I use a lot of pioneer womans edits, but then try and figure them out and recreate my own feel. Your style is very clean. I like that. I never achieved that for myself perfectly. I think you've got it down! I love the photo of your little boy at the water park and those colorful rings....framed soo nicely and edited very clean. Great job!
also, if you need help with anything in photoshop....don't hesitate to ask...that's how I learned...and tutorials online. :) really, ask away!!! I''m no pro, but am very willing to figure things out with you on how to get that look you want to achieve.. sorry for the double comments :) hahahhaa....have a great day!
Oh man, me and my husband are the same exact way. More power to those families that can live this lifestyle for years on end, but not the life I want. Only one more year for you guys, wooo!
