Get Me Outta Here!

Tornados freak me out. Bad. (Only second to the ring girl.)

This morning I woke up to a black sky and a wall cloud. In Kansas, this is bad news bears. I've seen a wall cloud once before - last September. Remember this?

It tried its best to brew a twister. Wall clouds are no joke.

I've had the weather channel on all day and I should probably turn the damn thing off. Tornado threats are high - 90 percent here and in the surrounding areas.

FANTASTIC.

How do I prepare for a tornado?! We live on the third floor of an apartment. There's no shelter or basement. Yeah, you heard me right. NO SHELTER OR BASEMENT!

I'm checking out the window every five minutes and throwing together an emergency bag. How do I chose what to save? DH barks an order to pack a change of clothes, bottled water, and canned food. (He's very serious in a crisis!) I'm thinking... what about my beautiful DSLR? Our external hard-drive? Diapers, wipes, cell phones, chargers... what's important?

I love our house. Our things. There is comfort and there are memories. My heart breaks for the people who have already lost so much due to these natural disasters. Have you seen the devastation in Joplin, MO? What about Alabama? Tonight another line of storms is supposed to hit and destroy. I'm praying hard it's not us.

I have 3 hours until this gets real. Do I clean the house? Bake some cookies? Take a nap? Pop a few excedrin migraine and crawl under the covers to cry? I think I have to pee. Or throw up. SLOW DOWN HEART YOU'RE BEATING TOO FAST!

At least Levi got his nap in.

Please pray for us.

**It's been 4 hours and the first storm is starting to roll in. We have a tornado watch, my house is (mostly) clean, and there are packed bags by the door. All I can do now is enjoy The Biggest Loser Finale and pray! (Go Olivia!!)

Saying a prayer for all of you out there. Seems like this has been the worst year in awhile for bad tornadoes. I'll be praying for you through the night.

Aw honey...I can't even imagine having to live in that state of fear so often!

Remember your Creator. How much He loves you and takes care of you. Try not to let fear overcome you. Get down on your knees when it gets that bad.

I'm praying for you guys too. xo

Yikes! Glad you have a bag by the door should you need to run. Very important. Also dont forget your external hard drive and camera. Also remember if you have renters/howmeowners insurance, to take pictures of your home before you leave, this way in case anything happens you have current photos to send to the insurance company in case of a loss. My friend used to live in San Fransisco and experienced making a claim after the wild fires out there a few years ago.
Keep calm, enjoy wathcing the biggest looser finale, and remember we are all thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers.
(but wow what a chance to get some great weather photos if you can)

I pray everything was all well for you yesterday! We're pretty freaked out here in Southern MO right now too. Seems we're still in for it this afternoon, but we're praying it passes us by. Stay safe!

Be safe! I've never seen a tornado, but they freak me out as well. I have a weather radio that alerts me if there's a tornado warning. It gives me piece of mind although i live in WV and don't think I'll be seeing too many.

Oh man, I hear ya about tornadoes! I grew up in Lawrence, KS. and the sirens would go off all the time it seemed during spring and summer. It's the way the sky turns that eerie shade of Wicked Witch of the East green that sends chills down my spine to this day. We've been having a doozy of a spring down here in NW Arkansas, too, but Joplin is just heartbreaking. All this violent weather has got to end soon! Hang in there!
